Most of my sticks come from PA. I find them laying in the woods. If they have been laying around for a while in the woods, they start to decay. As they decay, they start to change in color and form some cool patterns. The twisted sticks come from the edges of woods around the farmer's fields in Lancaster County, PA. The twist comes from a vine growing around the tree as the tree grows. My quess is that the vines like the sunlight so more are found next to the edge of a field. You can tell if it was a hunneysuckle or bittersweet vine that wrapped around the stick by looking at the way the stick is twisted. A left hand twist is made from honeysuckle and a right hand twist is made by bittersweet. The twist was made by honeysuckle if you hold the stick with the thicker end of the stick at the bottom and the twists slant to the left as they go up the stick.
